Komodo National Park is one of Indonesia’s most spectacular and biodiverse destinations—home to the legendary Komodo dragons, breathtaking island landscapes, and some of the richest marine life on the planet. Located in the East Nusa Tenggara province, the park covers an area of over 1,800 square kilometers, both land and sea, and consists of three major islands—Komodo, Rinca, and Padar—along with many smaller islets.
Established in 1980 and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, Komodo National Park was originally created to protect the endangered Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis), the largest lizard species in the world. Today, the park is equally celebrated for its stunning landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant coral reefs.
From trekking across rugged savannah hills to snorkeling with manta rays and relaxing on pink-sand beaches, the park offers a unique blend of adventure, wildlife, and natural beauty that can’t be found anywhere else on earth.
